Just Social Care currently have locum social worker vacancies to join this Initial Assessment/child protection service in Surrey. To be considered for this role you will need at least 18 months experience of statutory social work in a front line setting, involving direct work with children and families. This means referral and assessment and or child protection/child in need work You must have experience in and must be able to; - Undertake child protection investigations and work to child protection plans - Assess risk and need in relation to children and families and formulate plans to address needs - Engage with children, young people and their parents in challenging circumstances - Undertake assessments with good analytical and child centred focus - Work well with partner agencies and communicate with other professionals - Be child focused - Work as part of a team - Use supervision effectively - Understand information technology as appropriate to the job and maintain accurate and up to date records on our IT system. - Be able to write clear reports quickly and to a high standard - Understand the legal process and have experience of writing reports for court, attending court and giving evidence. A Senior Practitioner or an experienced Senior Social Worker is required to work on the Duty and Assessment Team. Candidates need to have experience of working in a duty and assessment team. Will be undertaking complex Initial assessments and S.47 enquiries. To take the lead on assessments and S.47 enquiries. Must have sound knowledge and understanding of child protection procedures, able to give advice and support to less experienced workers. Have knowledge of joint working with the police and other lead agencies Health and Education, advise these agencies when necessary on CP processes and procedures. Be familiar with systems use for assessments and other data. Be able to use own initiative and make decisions when dealing with crisis to ensure that children are safeguarded. Good communication and recording skills are essential. Should be a confident professional who is able to take the lead.
